A new look for Laurius – Duval Branding is dressing the firm in a new style. Laurius has now been practising law for eight years and recently opened a second office in the centre of Brussels. Laurius’ ‘excellent’ team provides ‘outstanding’ client service. It advised Salad Signature, a leading food producer in Belgium and the Netherlands, on the acquisition of Salsa Food Group and its subsidiaries from GIMV. ‘Knowledgeable’, ‘customer-oriented’ practice head Dirk Wellens is recommended along with the ‘smart’, ‘pragmatic’ Stefaan Wauman.
Laurius is currently representing a manufacturer against its former Russian distributor in a €2m dispute over a contract termination. It also has an active financial disputes practice, where it is representing ING Bank in a credit dispute. Bert Luyten is heading up the team and is a member of CEPANI.
Laurius’ tax practice was created when Philippe Hinnekens, formerly head of tax at Eubelius, joined the firm in January 2013 along with two senior associates: Korneel Decroix and Sofie Van Waeyenberghe. The team is representing a large building contractor in litigation pertaining to local taxes on the use of heavy machinery.
